All shades of blue

20 brand blues, from the darkest to the lightest — and the numbers that actually tell them apart.

Darkest to lightest, left to right. Every band links to that brand's page — the full list, with numbers, is below.

What tells them apart

Lightness

The set runs from Ford at L 23% to Vimeo at L 73% — a spread of 50 points. Everything else here sits between those two.

Saturation

Zoom is the most saturated at C 0.251; Volkswagen is the quietest at C 0.099 — 2.5× less colour at the same hue angle.

Same lightness, different intensity

Zoom and Dell are equally light (L 55% and L 56%), but the first is far more saturated (C 0.251 against 0.128). Side by side that reads as "louder", not as "lighter".

Closest pair

IBM #0F62FE and Dropbox #0061FF are 0.005 apart in OKLab — close enough that most people would not name them as two different colours without seeing them together.

Hue spread

All of these are blue by hue angle (215°–268° in OKLCH), but not by the same amount: Vimeo is at H 228° and Pepsi at H 267° — the low end sits next to teal, the high end leans into violet.

Marked ≈

These publish no single official HEX — the mark is a paint colour, a gradient, or drawn in black and white — so the closest documented value is shown: Vimeo.

How to read the numbers. OKLCH describes a colour the way the eye sees it: L is lightness (0% black, 100% white), C is chroma — how much colour is left when you take the grey out — and H is the hue angle on the colour wheel. Two colours with the same L look equally strong on a page even when their HEX values look nothing alike.
